You are right when it comes to January, it's a quietude month after the Christmas buzz.

I like to think of it as a time to tie up loose ends and hide from the weather. :)

Such lovely paintings of long tailed tits, thank you for sharing them.

My winter word this year is 'gathering', winter being a time of gathering, becoming ready to burst forth in spring.

That is a beautiful word for winter. Do you choose one for every season?

Not consciously! This one arrived of its own accord, inspired by poetry I've been reading on here. More words will arrive as the year turns.

Your long-tailed tits are beautiful. You capture them so perfectly.

Thank you! I love to paint them. Their long tails and bobbing flight make them perfect for some splooshy watercolour!

Yes, I also prefer to set intentions for the year. This year mine will start in February, as I am changing jobs to have a more regular schedule—and more time to myself!

Also I already chose a word for the year starting back in October, for my birthday. I pulled a tarot card (Judgment, this time), meditated on it, and came up with the word Worthy. And with this word I remind myself that I am worthy. Worthy of having free time!
